The "Mill Mountain Star" started out as a Christmas display for the City of Roanoke. Dedicated on Thanksgiving Eve, November 23, 1949, it is the world's largest freestanding illuminated man-made star that is visible for sixty miles. The ornament is made of solid brass with a brushed finish, comes with an information card and measures 1 1/2" by 1 1 /2".
